It all started with a match on a dating app, leading to their first date at a cozy cocktail bar in downtown NYC. André still remembers Jenn’s radiant bright smile underneath her blue sunglasses as she walked in, which had him saying, “Wow,” even though he’ll never let her forget how much he disliked her peach sundress. For Jenn, André was the funny, easygoing guy with one of the best smiles she had ever seen. As the date ended and they walked along a crowded, lively NYC sidewalk, Jenn felt an undeniable sense of safety and protection—a feeling that’s stayed with her ever since.

After just three months of dating, they were ready to take a leap. Prior to dating, André had already matched for additional medical training at Duke in North Carolina, and Jenn decided to follow suit, applying to programs in the area for her additional pharmacy training. Fate worked in their favor, and Jenn matched at a hospital just 45 minutes away. The next year after that was more of a challenge through a four-hour distance when Jenn started her first job in Virginia the following year, however they always found their way back to each other. In August 2024, everything came full circle as they both moved back to Northern NJ—close to both of their hometowns—where André began his first job out of training, and Jenn secured a job at the same hospital.

Their milestones together have been many: starting jobs they love, achieving board certifications, moving in together, and traveling the world. From Colombia to Switzerland, Italy to St. Lucia, Montenegro, England, and many more, they've shared countless adventures, but some of their favorite memories have been made closer to home—cooking up new dishes and hosting dinner parties for their friends and family.

And then came December 30, 2023. André planned a New Year's Eve Eve walk by the infinity pond between the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials in Washington, D.C. Jenn had no idea her parents were waiting to surprise her as André got down on one knee. It was the perfect moment to begin the rest of their lives together.
